DTSTAMP:20260615T135025Z
DESCRIPTION:\nAbout the Program\n \nRemote signings and notarizations are growing in popularity, especially as a result of COVID-19, but confusion still exists amongst estate/probate practitioners. What is an online/remote notarization and witnessing? How is it performed? Is it legally authorized in my state for use with estate planning documents? Tim Reiniger, Esq, Director of Reiniger LLC, the principal author of the Virginia online notarization law as well as the Virginia Digital Identity Law, will answer these questions and more during this all-level webinar created just for NAEPC councils and members in light of the current crisis in the country. In addition to learning answers to the most popular questions surrounding remote signing and notarizations, attendees will gain a better understanding of how to prepare an office for performing eNotarizations and online/remote notarization compliantly.\n \nAbout the Speaker\n \nTimothy Reiniger serves as Director of Reiniger LLC in Portland, Maine where he provides advisory services relating to information law and policy (digital identity, privacy, information security, and notarial law). Previously, he served as the third Executive Director of the National Notary Association.  Tim has authored and spearheaded first in the nation laws for remote/online notarization (2011) and digital identity management in electronic commerce (2015), both in Virginia. As a result of these efforts, he was appointed as an ABA Advisor to the Uniform Law Commission’s drafting committee to amend the Revised Uniform Law on Notarial Acts (2018) and the Identity Management in Electronic Commerce Study Committee. And, in 2016, Tim had the honor of serving on the Advisory Committee to develop the National Notary Association’s Model Electronic Notarization Act (issued in 2017).\n \nAn internationally recognized expert on electronic signature law, digital identity law and policy, and notarial law, Tim serves on the Advisory Board of the European Union’s LIGHTest Project and as a Vice-Chair of the Information Security Committee of the ABA’s Science & Technology Law Section. He is a member of the California, District of Columbia, Maine, and New Hampshire Bars.\n \nContinuing Education\n \nContinuing education credit is available at most webinars for Accredited Estate Planner® designees. In addition, a general certificate of completion will be made available for those professionals who feel the program satisfies their continuing education requirements and are able to self-file. It is the responsibility of the attendee to determine whether their state, discipline, or designation will allow one to self-file for a distance-learning program. Please contact [webinars@naepc.org](mailto:webinars@naepc.org?subject=Question%20With%20Regard%20to%20CE%20Policy%20for%20Webinars) prior to attending your first program if you have any questions with regard to the availability of credit. \n \nZoom Meeting\nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/87288993429?pwd=TWlCSmZIS0M0d1lkV3pjbmZ4czZwZz09\n \nMeeting ID: 872 8899 3429\n Password: 000033\n One tap mobile\n +13017158592,,87288993429#,,1#,000033# US (Germantown)\n +19292056099,,87288993429#,,1#,000033# US (New York)\n \nDial by your location\n         +1 301 715 8592 US (Germantown)\n         +1 929 205 6099 US (New York)\n         +1 312 626 6799 US (Chicago)\n         +1 253 215 8782 US (Tacoma)\n         +1 346 248 7799 US (Houston)\n         +1 669 900 6833 US (San Jose)\n Meeting ID: 872 8899 3429\n Password: 000033\n Find your local number: https://us02web.zoom.us/u/kbN2ILmsK\n
